Hi there,

Last week we launched Notebooks, a suite of new capabilities. Notebooks make Elicit more flexible and powerful, transforming the way you do research.

The biggest new addition with Notebooks is the ability to Chat with papers. Here's a video walking through this new workflow!

Chat enables you to do things like:

  1. Compare and contrast papers
  2. Summarize multiple papers along a specific dimension (like their methodologies)
  3. Cluster papers by a certain topic
  4. Ask clarifying questions about a single paper
  5. Ask clarifying questions about topics discussed in papers
  6. Critique a paper

Elicit's chat features are unique because you don't have to leave your research context to start chatting with papers. You can easily move between searching for papers or concepts, uploading papers, extracting data, and chatting. You can chat with papers you upload!

You can create multiple chats with any selection of papers. Elicit Plus users can chat with up to eight papers at a time and include information from the full text if available, while Free users can chat with up to four papers at a time.

Your entire Notebook will be saved for you to come back to later.

To get started, select papers from your Notebook, click Add a new step, and then click Chat with papers.
