Hi there,

Shahid from Elicit here.

Today I’m excited to announce a case study showing how a medical communications consultancy, Oxford PharmaGenesis, uses Elicit to help pharmaceutical clients invent and commercialize new drugs. Hopefully this gives you a concrete and inspiring example of how Elicit can help your research.

Before Elicit, Oxford PharmaGenesis' research ambitions were limited by expert researcher capacity to screen and extract from relevant papers. To meet clients budgets, they often had to help clients refine their research questions and reduce scope.

Now, Oxford PharmaGenesis uses Elicit to conduct more ambitious research. Earlier this year, a major pharma company asked for all epidemiological data, biomarkers, and prevention therapies related to transient ischaemic stroke, a common neurological condition. With Elicit, Oxford PharmaGenesis was able to conduct a "rapid literature review" of 40 research questions across almost 500 papers. "In the past, we would never have been able to conduct a rapid literature review of that scale. This technology allows us to offer clients deeper insights across larger evidence bases than ever before." said Kim Wager, Scientific Director of the AI and Data Science Team.

An example of screening in Elicit.

Tomas Rees, Director of Innovation, said, “The results are reliable, and I can easily trace any data point to a primary source to be able to confirm things if we need to. That’s important when our reputation is on the line.”
