Hi there,

To help improve results in our Find Papers and Systematic Review workflows, we’ve upgraded our date range filter to now have month-level granularity for both the start and end dates.

Elicit already includes filters for year of publication, PDF availability, journal quality, study type, and abstract keywords.

Now we’re improving our date range filter to allow you to specify down to the month for the publication dates of included papers.

A common reason researchers need this is to update systematic reviews with papers from a specific time period (e.g., as part of a Clinical Evaluation Report). Now, you can do those updates directly in Elicit.

For example, take this question:

“What are the major clinical and preclinical research directions in CAR-T therapy?”

Restricting dates matters here. Prior to 2017, papers focus on foundational work (vector design, safety concerns, and early hematologic cancer trials). After FDA approval, however, the literature shifts towards refinement and commercialization. Someone interested in the formative science would want to restrict their results to the earlier period, from roughly 2005 to 2016.

It’s now easy to use the date filter to enforce the exact range you want, stipulating both the year and the month for each date. In this example, we’ll use January of 2005 to December of 2016.

The new results are now strictly limited to papers with a publication date within the desired range.

You can try out the newly refined date range filter in Elicit’s Find Papers or Systematic Review workflows today. We launch new features often, so let us know if you have any feedback or have any ideas you’d like to see in future versions.
